The SABIS Student Life Organisation®

Tell me, and I forget
Teach me, and I may remember
Involve me, and I learn.

Benjamin Franklin

Schools in the SABIS® School Network firmly believe that education has the power to change the world. The SABIS Student Life Organisation® (SABIS SLO®), a distinctive and integral part of the SABIS® Educational System, gives students the opportunity to develop life skills that empower them to make that difference.

The SABIS SLO® is the students’ mini-society. Prefects who are selected – not elected – manage the SABIS SLO® . All students are encouraged to join the SABIS® SLOTM and to take an active part in their education – both academic and non-academic. By working in co-operation with, and complementing the efforts of, the administrative and academic staff, Prefects add even more value to themselves. Prefects also help to raise the general standard by promoting high social and moral values and encouraging participation in a wide range of additional activities – both academic and non-academic.

  • Students at ISC – Egypt learn to become active contributors to the school and its community through the SABIS Student Life Organization®.

Through the SABIS Student Life Organization® ISC – Egypt students learn to:

  • Encourage positive attitudes and reverse negative peer pressurethrough active participation .
  • Improve general standards and promote constructive thinking.
  • Appreciate teamwork and cultivate leadership skills.
  • Developa high level of self discipline.
  • Be responsible and accountable.
  • Improve their communication and social skills.
  • Form lasting friendship groups

Involvement in all school activities helps students acquire and refine skills, attitudes and attributes that set them above the average. Top universities from around the world are eager to attract and accept such students, who have demonstrated that they have a broad base of abilities and experiences and that they can be effective team-players.

Extra-curricular Activities

In the SABIS® Educational System, a great deal of importance is given to extra-curricular activities. Students are encouraged to develop talents, interests, hobbies, skills and techniques through participation in physical, academic, scientific and artistic pursuits. Extra-curricular activities round-out students’ education; they also complement and facilitate students’ academic studies. While providing ways to socialise, relax, have fun and become refreshed, extra-curricular activities keep students physically fit, increase their energy and their stamina, develop their interests and promote mental agility.

Students may participate in a wide range of activities including swimming, tennis, table-tennis, football, volleyball, softball, gymnastics, drama, folk dancing, ballet and painting; and lessons in piano and guitar may be arranged. There is also a department in the SABIS® Student Life OrganizationTM dedicated to extra-curricular activities. A list of age-appropriate extra-curricular activities is circulated by the Activities Department and may be obtained from the school office.
