Integrated Curriculum
The SABIS® Curriculum is a highly developed and fully integrated curriculum ensuring our students a smooth transition from one year to the next. The curriculum culminates in our High School courses which not only prepare them thoroughly for the external examinations they may wish to take, but also lay the foundation for the successful continuation of their studies at university and beyond.
Our single Curriculum prepares the students for the following examinations
- British system of education - IGCSE , AS -Level and A-Level
- American system of education - TOEFL, SAT I, SAT II, and Advanced Placement (AP)
The International School of Choueifat , High School Diploma. Our High School Diploma is fully accredited by NCA-CASI (North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement) & CITA (The Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation)
The scope and flexibility of the curriculum enables our students, by judicious selection of external examinations, to satisfy the general entry requirements of universities throughout the world.
The Academic Year
The academic year is divided into three terms adding to 180 school days. Within each term there are times for regular instruction, for revision and for examination. Revision time is planned and paced, and although, by necessity, selective, is nonetheless comprehensive. End-of-term exams take place during the last week of each term.
End of Term Reports
Parents receive three reports a year; one at the end of each term. The reports are an in-depth record of academic performance and extra-curricular activity over the term, with the final end-of-year report summarising performance over the entire year - including important information relating to promotion to the next grade.
Promotion
Students' academic progress is measured by a continuous assessment process, using, weekly (where applicable), monthly and end of term results to produce a reliable and accurate picture of the student's progress . At the end of the academic year, this information is combined with the end-of-year examinations, to determine whether or not the student is promoted to the next grade level.
High Achievers
When high achievers are clearly identified, they are challenged in a number of ways, all of which are aimed at deepening and broadening the scope of their knowledge. Also as grade placement is based on results and ability rather than solely on age, high achievers may be promoted more quickly, ensuring that they are studying within their correct capability range.
Student Transfer within the SABIS® Network
The implementation of the SABIS® Educational System throughout our 41-school network facilitates student transfer between schools and countries. On transfer, students enter a familiar educational environment: The courses, methods, textbooks, procedures and the SABIS Student Life Organization® help them to settle down quickly and ‘feel at home'. Students may transfer from one school to another within the SABIS® School Network at any time of the year, provided a place is available and the local legal registration requirements are complied with. Parents are encouraged to check all relevant ministry of education regulations before initiating a transfer.
