Art Show 2006

Wednesday 20th April heralded our annual Art show – this year a superb event: colourful, vibrant, exciting, and very, very enjoyable. The standard of artwork was excellent and the ushers with their sales techniques and expert knowledge added tremendously to the evening – in fact they really made it.

Anyone who thinks ISC Cairo is not the place for anyone with an artistic flair should look again! I was amazed by the amount and variety of talent there is here and reassured that there are people so capable of developing that talent to its full. The exhibition was divided into sections illustrating many of the important artistic genre: Cubist and Analytical Cubist, Impressionist, Expressionist, Surrealist, Still-Life, Glass Painting, Ink Drawing, Landscape, and Portrait.

Nor must I fail to mention two expert student pianists (Rai-Mee Je and Yubin Kim) who played non-stop throughout the whole show, adding a classical background to the evening.

No show like this can be put on just by one person, and as well as the teaching and administrative staff who took part, I would also like to mention in appreciation the excellent support our events enjoy from other departments of the school who do so much to make the whole thing possible: the secretarial staff, the maintenance department, the carpentry shop, the pantry, the photocopying department, and so on.

The combination of talent, enthusiasm, and hard work from both students and staff produced a great event: one in which we took, through sales of the artwork, just over 6,150LE – all of which will be donated to The New Children’s Cancer Hospital in Cairo.
